What Causes AIDS

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, or AIDS, is a medical condition that snaps the immune system of the body. The body initially gets infected with HIV, which is a retrovirus that attacks the crucial cells of the immune system. The condition is designated as AIDS when the infection reaches its maximum severity. AIDS can primarily be caused through sexual contact, infected blood transfusion, and from an infected pregnant mother to the child.

World AIDS Day History

AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, has devastated the lives of approximately 25 million people between the years 1981 and 2007. In fact, in 2007 alone, about 2 million people died due to the disease, and out of these, approximately 270,000 were of children.
