Nevertheless, mosquitoes are quite frequently killed or consumed by birds or insects; by rain, droughts, storm, etc prior to getting an opportunity to live their normal life span.
Mosquito’s lifecycle develops in four stages which are egg, larval, pupa and adult. The time span for a mosquito to pass through all four phases depends wholly on temperature and species. Usually in a hot climate, the life cycle involves 14 days or less, but it can fluctuate from 4 to 30 days.
Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnated or quiet water. For adult mosquitoes, weeds, tall grass, and bushes serve as an outdoor abode. Usually, adult female mosquitoes live for two weeks to one month whereas adult male mosquitoes merely live for one week. Majority of female mosquitoes feed on human beings, birds and other animals to obtain enough blood to grow eggs. On the other hand, male mosquitoes feed on nectar and plant juices.
There are a lot of things that catch the attention of mosquitoes such as perfumes, body sprays and aromatic body lotions. Mosquitoes also get attracted to dark-colored clothing or areas compared to the lighter ones. Mosquitoes are mostly active during evenings, night time and dawn, and actively hunt for blood meals; hence people who are outside in that time are more expected to be stung. Adult mosquitoes can flutter a number of miles with help from the wind depending on its diverse species.
