Neurology is a branch of medical science that deals with the study of nervous system of the body. Any flaws in the normal coordination of the nervous system will result to nervous disorder or nervous system breakdown. This defect is also known as neurology disorders. |
The defect can be in the electric impulse generated by the nervous system or it can be due to any anomalies in the biochemical reaction in the brain or in the spinal cord. The neurological disorders can also occur due to the damage in the nerves that runs throughout the body and can lead to irrevocable loss of function severe paralysis.
The other symptoms of the neurological disorders include weakness in muscles, seizures, little to complete loss of sensation, inadequate coordination, pain, etc. Further, it also affects the emotional status of an individual like often those patients tend to be in the state of confusion, anxiety, irritability, etc. The consciousness of a person also tends to be disturbed by neurological disorders.
Though, few of the neurological disorders share common symptoms, but most of them have their own unique symptoms. These disorders are often identified by the neurological examination. The neurological examination is nothing but testing the sensory and the motor neurons by their response to the external stimulus. Most often, the reflex action of the nervous system is checked to examine the existence of any neurological disorder. These examinations are commonly used as screening tools as well as investigative tools. If any defect is seen in these tests, then other tests will be employed to determine the nature of neurological disorders.
