A sound sleep at night is necessary to be active during daytime. Sometimes, many individuals do not get proper sleep due to the sleep disorders. But, these sleep disorders could me set right by taking alternative therapy that concentrates more on the diet, exercises, and changes in the lifestyle. The alternative therapies include acupuncture, guided imagery, yoga, hypnosis, biofeedback, aromatherapy, relaxation, herbal remedies, massage, etc.

Acupuncture is one of the common alternative therapies that originated from China for the treatment of various treatments which includes sleep disorders like insomnia. This basically works by the piercing of very fine needles into the body at specific points to activate the normal functioning of the body. They improve the circulation of the body and thus help to remove the toxic substances which block the active substances that induce sleep. It is found that the acupuncture therapy helps to improve the quality of sleep in insomniac patients and it requires further confirmation.

Relaxation and meditation is the other alternative therapy that is used to treat the people with insomnia. This method promotes sleep by calming down the mind, thoughts and the body as the muscle tension and the officious thoughts disturbs the sound sleep. There is much evidence to prove the efficiency of the meditation in promoting sleep. It induces sleep by producing sufficient amount of melatonin that regulates sleep. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that helps to modify the sleep habits and behaviors. Lifestyle modification also must be brought about to get a sound sleep.
