| Ultram is an analgesic drug used as a pain reliever. Introduced in the year 1995, Ultram is the brand name of a generic drug called Tramadol. Ultram prevents or decreases pain by binding to specific opioid pain receptors found in the brain spinal cord and gastrointestinal tract. Ultram blocks the uptake of norepinephrine and serotonin in the body, thereby altering the pain message to the brain. Ultram should never be taken more than the prescribed dosage. But, many times patients do experience certain withdrawal symptoms while reducing the usage of Ultram. Ultram withdrawal symptoms include sleeping disorders, dizziness, hallucinations, irritated behavior, sweating, chills, tremors, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, diarrhea, fatigue, body aches and breathing problems.
A long-term usage of Ultram causes fundamental changes in the brain, thereby making the patient addicted to this particular drug.
